Seems to have stopped working again - I get half a page of errors saying such things as 'permission denied' when I try to update mine.
In fact here it is:

I had the same thing. Can't for the life of me remember what the 3 options are... (upload from machine is #1) but only option #3 works. Post a link or something? Seems to work.

nope.
The size of the first 2 options is limited, to get an avatar to work you need to link it to a picture hosting site like photobucket. please resize the image aswell if it is large.
